Practice Based Practice Plan

Integrated Networks (IN)and their related Management Services Organizations (MSO) have a unique opportunity to assist the individual member practices in practice management techniques. One example of this is a program created by THE EDMONDS GROUP called the Practice Based Package Plan. This plan not only assists members but also serves as an augmentation for the IN contract opportunities and a revenue stream for the IN or the MSO.

The Practice Based Package Plan is a managed care program that is sold at the level of the individual practice. The IN or MSO negotiates a package of ophthalmic materials from select vendors. The package may consist of an ophthalmic frame, ophthalmic lenses, ophthalmic lens extras, contact lenses or a group of lens options, or any combination of these products. The vendors agree to supply the materials to the provider at a deep discount with a unit over-ride to the IN or MSO. The IN or MSO then offers all network members a management contract to provide the package as well as an external marketing program to offer the package plan to the pubic through the contracted practices as well as an internal marketing program. The provider markets the sponsored package to private patients through promotional and educational programs developed by the IN.

The Practice Based Package Plan is a versatile product. It provides a unique opportunity for the member providers to retain managed care patients that are contracted for examination and or medical services only as well as serving to support traditional patients. For the IN, the Practice Based Package Plan provides a "value added" opportunity that can assist in the negotiation of examination and medical only plans. It also serves the MSO as the basis for a management contract with the member providers. (See Figure 1)

THE EDMONDS GROUP will design the package as desired by the IN or MSO and will negotiate the vendor contracts. THE EDMONDS GROUP will design and implement the external marketing program through the IN. THE EDMONDS GROUP will design the internal marketing plan and provide the staff training for implementation at each practice location and will serve as a source for all necessary marketing materials.
